Calcium Correction Calculator
Corrects total calcium for hypoalbuminemia
mg/dL
g/dL
Please enter valid numeric values for both fields.
Corrected Calcium
-- mg/dL
Clinical Notes Formula Reference
- Formula: Corrected Calcium = Measured Total Calcium + 0.8 * (4.0 - Serum Albumin).
- Approximately 40-45% of serum calcium is bound to protein, primarily albumin.
- Hypoalbuminemia can cause a falsely low measured total calcium level (pseudohypocalcemia).
- Normal physiological total serum calcium range is generally 8.5 - 10.5 mg/dL.
- Note: In critically ill patients or those with severe acid-base disturbances, measuring ionized calcium is clinically preferred over calculated correction.
